An ambitious residential project to modernize a double fronted Victorian terrace house for a young family.
Modern materials were spliced into the traditional house to form radical new types of living space. A curved stainless steel shower was projected from the side of a 2 storey outrigger extension; and a curved glass projection from the kitchen at ground floor makes space for a window seat that is at once in the garden and part of the house.
The project challenged both the materiality and fabrication processes of domestic construction, using industrial design processes to fabricate highly ambitious curved glass and metal cladding elements usually reserved for commercial scale projects.
